Minister for sport Richard Caborn (who?)

"It's an amazing accomplishment and one that, added to Mike Golding's third place in the Vendee Globe last week, means there's never been such a huge interest in sailing."

Does this mean that Gordon Fat-Pension will be looking more closely at us?

Possibly or it could be that they're looking at using Mirabella for their next annual conference.. top notch musto gear a must be seen in...

This just shows how far the LP has come from Neil and Glenda on the Beach to our Tone at the Wheel/s of MV!

all fine now

ooh no, all fine now with day mellon in charge. Any nasty taxes and all of us boaties who have saved up our lunch money will be saved from the nearly-in-tears ellen.

That'll be the Minister for Sport who famously failed to get a single question right when taking part in a Sports Quiz on Five Live!. They weren't tricky ones either: who's the England Cricket Coach, name a top jockey, name three European golfers (he got Montgomery, then, er ...) etc. At least he'd be able to name 'a famous sailor' now.

General knowledge

My reaction as well. I'd always thought that the Minister for Sport was called Richard Caborn. But perhaps my general knowledge is defective too.

Re: General knowledge

But don't worry. The good news is that he has a fellow Labour MP called Kelvin Hopkins as his 'sailing advisor', and the Right Honourable Member for Luton North lists sailing on the Norfolk Broads on his list of recreations. The bad news is that sailing comes at the bottom of the list, below collecting Victorian glassware.
