What do people recommend in the way of waste water pumps for sinks. My existing automatic waste water pump has died. What should I replace it with. I do not need automatic - I am happy to press a button/flick a switch!
Appreciate comments/thoughts - TOC9

Hi mate. I have a mk1 Crabber 24. I fitted an old brass bilge pump to the sink wast. Discharges through a skin fitting above the waterline. Seems to work a treat.

More on the Cornish Crabber Club forum.

Any diaphragm bilge pump should handle washing-up water. Our Cornish Yawl came with a bog-standard "chimp" pump bolted to the front of the sink unit, but that looked rather industrial and also tended to catch on things. I replaced it with a Smartbail ( http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/pr...D=10009&Product_ID=10011&FriendlyID=Smartbail ) which looks neater and has the workings hidden inside the unit, below the sink.

Thanks for that. Do you still own your Yawl in Southampton? If so any interest in joining the Solent Crabber Rally in June next year. Full details on Crabber Club website http://cornishcrabbersclub.ning.com/

I would definitely be interested if we still had the boat, but sadly (for this purpose at least) we sold her in the spring and she is now down at Restronguet in Cornwall.
