Has anyone any experience of these. I am told they are the only connector to have been approved by Germanischer Lloyds - so they must be good(?). We have 10 mm chain and a 27.5 kg anchor so getting the correct WASI Powerball Connector for our combination is an investment(!) of about £120. We are currently using 2 of the Jimmy Green Yellow Pin shackles with the extra thick pin. We have to use 2 shackles as the anchor shank is too thick for the biggest shackle we can use on the chain. Have thought of trying to get a larger link put on each end of the chain for the bigger shackle but removing 75 m of chain from the boat and having it transported to a workshop capable of doing this seems far too difficult.

Why do you want (need) a swivel in the first place? What's wrong with the shackles?

Re the PowerBall ball-and-socket concept, see here: www.rocna.com/kb/Swivels

The width of the smaller shackle, which goes through the chain, is smaller than the width of the shank. The size of the second shackle, which is attached to the anchor, is such that if the anchor comes up on its side with the shackle eye pointing down, it won't go over the bow roller - this always seems to happen in situations where raising the anchor is difficult, even though we have an electric windlass.

Have used one of these for many years in the Caribbean in varying conditions. They are excellent and completely trouble free.
