As am replacing the washboards on my boat I want to get away from the padlock and fit the lock directly to the wasboard.

I am looking for something that will fit on the back a 12mm perspex washboard, like a mortice lock where the mortice fits behind the lip of the hatchcover to stop it opening.

I haven't been able to find anything yet. Can anyone suggest a supplier/website?

TIA

Replaced mine through the local BENETEAU dealer who got me one from Beneteau - not too expensive also think i have seen them in some chandleries.

I use a camlock

from here

Once you go beyond the point of detering the casual tealeaf, the stronger you make your lock, the more damage a villain will do getting in. It's a lot cheaper to replace a gps or even a plotter than to rebuild a companionway.

I made my instrument pod easily removable and it comes home with me. I'd rather the local intelligensia didn't have to write my boat off finding there's nothing worth nicking on board

We got a replacement (brass) mortice lock that sits behind the top washboard, barrel poking through and mortice stops the hatch from sliding. Made by Timage, no website but Alladins cave, Bursledon, and probably many other chandlers, had a catalogue we could look through.

Have you considered putting a Yale lock on the back of the top board? Should last a good few years and can be opened from the inside.
