Took a few photos during my sail from Ipswich to Southwold yesterday.
Despite the fab weather I saw only two boats out between the Deben and Southwold.
However at least on the orwell and just outside there were folk enjoying the conditions.
Spotted this little classic just passing SYH.

A little later round the corner I saw this interesting colour scheme.

And lastly just off Languard I spotted a good old Pandora. (my first ever yacht)

The green ketch with red sails is Julia Jones' Peter Duck, the first of her class, originally built at Pin Mill for Arthur Ransome.
She has a fascinating history including a voyage to St Petersburg with a previous owner.

Is that the Peter Duck which lives on a mooring on the Deben just upstream of Martlesham Creek? Lovely looking boats to my eye.

I wasn't around when Arthur Ransome owned Peter Duck, so have no idea of her original colour scheme. But in the fifties and sixties, when she was owned b the Jones family and moored at Waldringfield, her colour scheme was exactly as in your photo. Te only thing that's changed is the tender - there used to be three clinker pram sailing dinghies in the same green, one for each of the children, sometimes towed in line astern (the dinghies, not the children!) Almost made me turn green with envy.

Great to see that Julia is keeping her looking so smart, and still in the colours of her childhood.

I can remember sailing driftwood around to Oxford about 25 years ago, we had borrowed her for the trip. If I try I will remember who owned her!

Would have been fun but it was Orford, we were pulled up by the Customs men when we got to Orford but they were looking for someone else.
