At Felixstowe this weekend?

I saw what looked like a spitfire doing acrobatics round 12ish yesterday off Harwich entrance... and then today coming out of Hamford water about the same time two Gnats ( I think ) were buzzing around... came over several times at only a few hundred feet... most distracting.

We were coming out of Walton - very entertaining. Proper big boys toys.

I believe a lone Spitfire made a couple of circuits over Harwich/Felixstowe about 3-4 weeks ago, and that similar events are not that uncommon.

Carolyn Grace keeps her Spitfire ML407 at Bentwaters Parks, Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, could be her, often seen flying over the Orwell.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye out for the canopy next time. I saw ML407 at close-ish quarters at the Fawley Hill Vintage Festival a few years back, which was a great pleasure.

We used to see the Grace Spitfire frequently as we live only a few miles from Bentwaters, from which one of Carolyn's sons, I believe, also flew an aerobatic plane.

Sadly, that Spitfire has not been gracing our local skies for a couple of years now since there was an unfortunate falling out at Bentwaters. It seems incredible but there were local residents who objected to the noise of the Spitfire...

We think the Graces returned to Duxford.

This time last year the Grace Spitfire visited Earls Colne to give a ride to the chap who started the flying club. My neighbour is learning to fly there and invited me along.

Not any more she doesn't. ML407 is now based at Sywell Aerodrome and is thus one of the three Spits that regularly disturb the peace in my dad's garden (which is less than half a mile from the end of the runway!) whilst emptying the bank accounts of willing victims

I have to confess that as glorious as the sound of the Merlin is, after the twentieth time one has flown over your head in a day it gets a bit tedious :)
