Ok, there has obviously been quite a lot of rain over the last week or two, and the rainwater had to go somewhere, but was the severe flow on the Thames for the last few days really necessary or was there any alternative way of handling it?

What areas upriver could have taken a bit more of the load without causing unacceptable problems?
