Well they are stuffed with the price of fuel.
At least the gentlemen amongst us can raise a sail and go somewhere for nothing.
Tax all boats without at least a 10m mast I say... then they can have poles on their boats and find even more electronic goodies to squander their ill gotten gains on.

Chatting with MoBo owner on next berth and was shocked how much a Portishead to Cardiff trip cost. Suddenly going into Welsh Wales across a bridge seemed a bargain. Sailing seems to be the ultimate 'green' transport. Shame about the weekend forecast.

Bristol city docks to the bay and back, via the Holms.........................about 100 litres!
Worth every penny when the sun is shining and the sea is flat(ish)
