DON'T SPEND VAST AMOUNTS OF TIME AND MONEY ON YOUR BOAT BECAUSE SOONER OR LATER YOU WILL PART WITH IT.

After a few years away from the Thames whilst bringing up young kids, we bought another boat in 2005.
We bought a Princess 33 of 1978 vintage and I spent loads of time doing odd jobs on it.
For instance, I replaced the fresh water tanks, all hot and cold pipework, had both engines and sterndrives removed, rebuilt and re-fitted, new carpeting, Tek-Dek to the cockpit sole, etc etc etc. You know how it goes!
It was a labour of love and the familty appreciated my efforts to modernise the boat.
Well, we arrived at our marina a couple of weeks ago and saw a boat on the sales pontoon that we liked and my offer has now been accepted.
We are really excited but will miss our faithfull old girl. I just hope the new owner appreciates all my efforts. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's a recession??? Seems that there are a lot people buying boats.

I wouldn't argue with that, it's interesting though that the bottom doesn't seem to have dropped out of the boat market as some predicted it would. There have certainly been price reductions, but not to the degree that I expected to see.

True, but the price of anything you want to buy never falls enough.

The bottom only falls out of the market on things you want to sell no matter
what it is ! You can't win !

Murphy's Law or Sods Law or whoever !!!!!

I've always viewed buying a boat as fixing all the problems, ready for the next owner.
