This boat came past us at about 20.30 below Marlow Lock on saturday night and gunned his engines as he went past us causing an enormous wash which caused our boat, a 31 ton dutch barge! to crash up on the moorings, luckily only caused a few bits and pieces to fall over inside but waves came over the front of the boat.
Reported to the lock keeper in the morning, and lo and behold they came back through the lock later in the morning , I ran round to explain to them the damage that they could have done if we had been a smaller boat, one of them apologised whilst the rest of them said yes but it was hilarious!
If you see them coming past you then hang on to your hats!

I reported it via the form on the TMBA site. The name of the boat was Enterprise but I couldn't see what make it was.
The lock keeper said he would pass the information on to the enforcement officers.
Wouldn't normally bother reporting but it was so deliberate and quite frightening.

By the photo it is Enterprise?

What's the point in having a boat like that for ditch crawling?

Enterprise What ?

We are up to Enterprise 10 on the licensing computer as far as i know .

Be a shame to get the wrong one.

You need to report it yourself, coming from the lock keeper , the info is third hand and won't be acted upon. Would a policeman stop a car that a man had told a man who told him was speeding ?

Report it via the NCCC on 03708 506 506. :)

Point taken Teddington Lock, will get on to it. Unfortunately the boat only showed Enterprise, no further name painted on it, and I can't see any make from the photo, not much help really.

Cant be that hard to find four white males where the boat has five blue fenders each side so possibly ten blue fenders. Id certainly like to see them get a good fine and banned.

probably one of these two:

ENTERPRISE IX Built by Sealine in 1996 - Length 11.3 metres (37 feet 1 inch ) - Beam 3.7 metres (12 feet 2 inches ) 2 Diesel Inboard engines with a total power of 460HP. Registered with EA Thames Region number F001292 as a Non Hire Annual. Last registration recorded on 27/04/2007

He moors three boats up from me in Harleyford Marina.

Saw them go out on Sat in flood conditions and thought at the time it looked a recipe for trouble.

Might just be bit of beer induced enthusiasm perhaps ?

Would be nice if somebody just had a quiet non confrontational word with the skipper and on his own, without an audience or his mates around.
Normally the fact that his behaviour has been noted and commented on is enough in first instance

five white males and six blue fenders:D

Bet you're no good at Spot the Difference;)

Thank you to all the detectives out there. Hopefully he will have read this thread and feel suitably reprimanded, and I have got it off my chest.
The boards are disappearing, the sun is shining let's all get boating!

Why not?

You can use whatever boat you fancy.

It is a shame to see these boats not at sea (our marina is another extreme case of this with 45ft flybridge boats wedged onto a 4ft deep ditch :( ) but not as much a shame as seeing them left to fend for themselves. At least this one appears in good nick and is used.

And no I dont condone their behaviour but then again neither do I condone naming and shaming on a public forum when a polite word would have been a more reasonable response.

I agree, particularly as there appears to be actually only one "witness" who is also the Plantiff, only one side of the story has been told, and the jury (the forum) has gone straight to a guilty verdict. (P.S its not me and not my boat, just always interested in keeping forums a fair and pleasant place to be)
