Warning for fishing enthusiasts - Sea Bass...

The recreational fishing forums have been in uproar over this for a little while now. I could agree with the 3 at any one time last year but this is draconian and misguided. It's not the recreational angler that is raping the seas, yet commercials have a get out of jail free card.

....... "Ohh, so thats a bass is it?"

Conwy sits in a bass conservancy with a fisheries patrol boat. Not that I have ever seen it out, but the rule here is if you are rigged for bass (lures / peeler crab etc) and caught with bass you are bust. If you accidently catch bass, say on mackeral feathers you can release it. But if you are caught keeping it you're still bust.

Could not agree more. Someone has got something wrong here. Its the obscene levels of fish that the massive trawlers catch that are the issue

Regardless of your disdain of the DM a UK type bass that size would be a record, , the real story is true !
Yes, aware of that which is why I posted... ;-)

Sadly, all the daily press seem to have the same 'standards' where images and typos are concerned - my comment wasn't tribal!

I find DM are quite good at collating local content from around the UK (The group own a lot of local rags) and thus makes a good news source if you can see through some of the reactionary headlines.
