Warm air heating ducting - alternative to eberspacher ducting?

In the article I wrote for PBO on fitting a Eberspacher from Beaulieu Boat Jumble, I used 10 m flexible aluminium ducting from Venturflex, Waterlooville. They even delivered it free of charge. It aluminised and spiral reinforced but I seem to remember they only stock the 8o mm diameter type. However my boat had 100 mm holes precut so that was no problem and there was sufficient room for insulation as well. They supply an enormous amount to Sunseeker. 14

Have you noticed a fall in pressure since you are using 80mm pipe. It is quite different to say the 50mm I use on my 1DLC.
 
Have had exactly the same difficulty sourcing ducting as you, Ben.
I need 50mm, and although I've visited VentureFlex as suggested by TONYS several times, they have nothing suitable at or near that size.

I'm unwilling to pay the £15/m odd for the 'original' stuff ...,. especially since in my experience it disintegrates after about 12 years!. As an interim solution last winter, until I source something sensible, I've used a combination of an short piece of 'original' I still had wrapped in additional foil at the heater end; plastic 50mm rainwater down pipe; and cardboard tube connectors, wrapped in foil! ...Works fine.

I'm afraid the cost of 'spares' in general for such heaters means I won't be buying one again.

i've got some 60 mm by 2 mtr lengths spiral wound interlock alloy which i used for the install of my eber, also got 25 mm by 2 mtr stainless steel interlock flexi exhaust pipe which fits over the 24 mm exhaust on the eber.
will dig out the invoices t see how much it cost, certainly now where like the price of eber stuff

Sorry, I have been away playing a golf match. I am not sure what you mean by a fall in pressure. My system works fine and has transformed those evenings spent at anchor. I argued that there would be less back pressure (i.e. a greater air flow) with a larger diameter pipe and this would be more efficient if I lagged it. Although a DL1C is small for a 36 foot boat we have the main outlet in the saloon and that is perfect. We don't go out much in the middle of winter especially overnight at anchor!
 
I put up a posting several months ago on the same subject. I sourcesflexible aluminium ducting from a local motor factors who sold it as emmission control ducting (between exhaust manifold and inlet on car / hgv engines). They had it prepacked in short lengths but also had coils of it 2.5~4 and 5~8m lengths (2.5 compressed but strretches to 4 m and 5m compressed but stretches to 8m.) It was available in 50, 60, 80, and 100mm ø.

Only disadvantage is it needs to be insulated / lagged not only to keep the heat in the tube but also to prevent burnt fingers etc. Minor problem with a slight delay in heat coming from the outlet as the aluminium has to warm up itself.
