Why do you wanna go to that cess pit. If you want the forgien food and bad beer, if you look hard enuff you can find that in Dorset. If you want good food and a good beer, the place is overflowing with it. Plus you don't have to put up with the French air traffic people going on strike at the drop of a hat! Getting ripped off by dodgy ities and messing about with all that new manopoly money. Oh! by the way, you up for the easter cruise!

hi barry, rang them yesterday to tell them how many, sent menu's by Email. but my Email account is playing up.. i can't read or send Email.. till i find out whats wrong with it. it's only that Piero (small eytie with glasses) wanted to know what we wanted to eat, so as to speed up serving. i'm going to see him tommorrow, so if theres a prob i'll drop you a PM.

couldn't agree more - in this case it's a question of is it the journey or the arrival by boat (or otherwise) that's the objective!
as an aside you could launch at Rockley (yes I know it's even nearer Wareham) for £10/15 all tides - not a lot of activity there at this time of year. I would even be around to give you a hand if you needed it!
 
Without a crew from Christchurch yet, Rockley could still be an idea, particualrly as it sounds like I have willing launcher. On the other hand I could just drive to Wareham, then you could throw a bucket of sea water over me on Wareham quay - same affect without the hassle.
 
shame on you - relating the use of your boat to a hassle factor!
however as I have said the same thing earlier in the thread, and my baot is on a pontoon waiting to go, I hold hy hands up with you!

We've got a Wauquiez as our next door neighbour but one- seems a nice boat with a well thought out rig for shorthanded sailing. I've never been down below - nor seen them out on the briny but the owners appear to enjoy the marina bit!

Don't bother sending the menu. I'll have the antipasti thing for starters, the wife and kids will have those big'ol garlic bread things they do. I'll have the pasta with the mussels prawns and crayfish lobster thingys in it, the wife'll have the pizza turned into a pie thing(no I don't get it either). The kids'll have a chesse and tommy pizza each. For pud, well thats the tuff one. I know the kids will have the all singing and danceing ice cream thing, I'll have the sorbet. the wife cant have one shes on a diet! All washed down with a nice Napoleon brandy and a bottle of the house white ta! Doe's it sound like we live in there at the weekends!!

Weather on Saturday, looking quite good, but Sunday is yuk. More wind & rain, unless the forecast changes again.

I'll probably venture up the Frome on Saturday, return back to Poole Saturday evening, going to Wareham by car for the evening bash and kip in the Black Bear.

Hope you bring your boat, Barry, never do anything if we listen to Met forecast.

Steve, how much later is the tide at Wareham, than say, Poole Quay.

I've just been on the Met site. They say sat will be dry some sunny periods and sunday will be dry but overcast with a slight risk of showers later in the afternoon early evening.
So your at the bear, I'm at the bear and Forbsies at the bear. Who else is gonna stay at the bear? I'm ther from friday evening till sunday, early start on the local brew is called for!

tides for the Frome at Wareham indicated as follows on the 19th
highs at 1042 and 2246h @ 2.1 m
low 1743h @ 1.0m
which would seem to leave those of us running back down the river after lunch without much water!
I see a classic devil and deep blue sea situation arrising - no water but light or no light but water - exactly the sort of choice experience advises one to avoid having to face by meticulous planning. Alternatively another pint to assist the decision making process?

The river is'nt so bad in the dark, its the first section of the stakes at the harbour. The last 2 or first 2, depends on whic way you look at them, are now lit. The bouys down the wareham channel are also now lit. I've done it in the dark loads of times its not actually that bad. Do the post hoping thing with the sounder and it should be ok. Afew pints to calm the nerves before hand praps!
