Hi all,
As the title says - I have a set of B5 props on my DP290 drive. Front prop is goosed, so I'm after a replacement. Next season, I'm going to be going for stainless, but have spent my upkeep budget for this year already!

Coastalrides don't have anything unfortunately, nor is there anything on eBay.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Why do you want stainless?

less flex, slightly better performance, less prone to folding a blade if I beach the boat...

The current aluminium set had paint flake off which caused cavitation and has now busted the front prop... stainless shouldn't need painting, etc. so I'm hoping I'll get more years out of a set.

what are the arguments against stainless, other than cost, and more likely to bust your gearbox if you hit a rock?

cheers

They eat anodes at a phenomenal rate for starters, the rest you mention. In so saying I am on C4 stainless and may well change to a coarser ali prop B6+ next season as I am under propped at the moment.

I have 2 x sets of B5's (genuine). Willing to sell sets separately, but not a single prop.

There were some sand marks on the outer edges of the blades so I had them touched up and re-painted. Sitting spare now as I sold the boat.

PM me if you're interested.

That's interesting to know - I didn't realise they ate them do badly. My current ring anode on the drive leg is about 80% worn after a year with the alu props and that's with a galvanic isolator. Presumably I'd be on more than one set of anodes a year with stainless props.

alt - I've PM'd you.

cheers

The ring anode lasts me about 4-5 months before requiring change. It's free and easy enough for me to go to the drying out wall and change, could be expensive if you have to lift and hold.

In fairness though I do not have the domed zinc anode that sits on top of the anti-cavitation plate that some have retro-fitted(?) for the purpose of SS props

I could do with a couple of sets of C4's for spares when the time comes to sell yours Bruce!

I'm confident I'd get a year out of my prop anodes.

You may recall my thread a couple months back when I was querying prop sizes. Under propped at WOT , borderline hole shot. The consensus was possible turbo wear leaving a power gap after supercharger cut out.. The turbo's are on my next to do list before my August cruise. If this pans out this season then sure, I will give you first refusal.
