Hi all, looking for somebody to have a peek at our engine alignment, I have also put the word out at the club, Orwell yacht club and somebody thinks there is somebody who works on motors there but not sure. it's a Nanni 14 that we put in new 10 years ago, the boat is a hummingbird 30 , essentially an Elizabethan 30 hull and is quite pinched at the stern which doesn't allow for a flexible coupling like an r and d, so we just have our stern gland with a flexible rubber pipe type arrangement, the motor is flexibly mounted, foot wise and , although we have run it like this for all this time with no issues , just feel it could do with an expert eye to align the shaft and motor properly.
The symptoms we have are excessive vibes through the tiller and lots of vibe noises through the hull, cabin sole etc. spoke to preachment who say we shouldn't be experiencing this level of vibe and it has been a lot better. will be at Orwell yacht club on Sunday morning if there any takers or suggestions? Am happy to pay somebody to do this of course.
Many thanks. Adam

Isnt there some one in the DYC who could help you.
What about Rob over on the fuel berth @ Fox`s

Evening, yes there are some people who know a bit or two there, I have been advised to sit at the tea table on Sunday morning and air my problem there but the thought of filling my cockpit with tea drinkers having a banter whilst emptying my biscuit barrel fills me with dread tee here, no I am sure that one of them will come to my rescue, I have never bought fuel at fox's so haven't come across rob, does he know his stuff? I could pop over there on Sunday and see if he is there, discretion is probably key though eh. Ta

Rob is a DYC member lives on his Golden Hind (????) Mongoose down river side of the fuel berth in the 1/2 tide berths

You were lucky, over, over here it would have been your bier locker :)

You probably thought of this already, but did you check your rudder stock?

Yes, we dropped that and looked the bushes etc a couple of years ago, after digging a great big hole tee here, there is a tiny amount of play in the stock but nothing drastic.
