I'm looking for a mail order site preferably, that can supply small delrin sheaves 5/8 and 3/4 inch diameter by 1/4 of an inch wide. I need 10 of these to repair the lock down mechanism on a Prindle 16 catamaran rudder blades.

Thanks for your assistance.

That is fairly small such that it might be better to get a rod of delrin and turn down in a lathe. olewill

That's true William but I would rather just buy them. Used to be able to buy Ronstan ones and they still have them listed in catalogues but have not found a reseller yet that stocks them. I bought a Prindle 16 off Ebay just for fun. I'm sure the dealers have these in stock but if the prices they charge for other off the beach cat parts is any indication, these bits will be more than what I paid for the boat and trailer.

The sheaves go inside the rudder stocks, might be just as easy to make them out of brass or use sliding door wheels from the hardware store.

From previous research, the two are the same thing.

Acetal Homopolymer - Delrin
Acetal Homopolymer - manufactured from Delrin acetal resin - has higher mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and creep resistance as well as a lower thermal expansion rate and often it also presents a better wear resistance than the acetal copolymer grade. Delrin Acetal Homopolymer is our standard stock grade of acetal.

It's one of those confusions that make life more difficult than need be. At least it might open up more possibilities for fishermantwo.

Wasn't trying to be a 'know all' just happened to have needed to find out previously. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If they are nylon they may cause jamming problems through expansion due to water absorption.

Delrin is a DuPont trade name and the difference for the applications you are talking about is minimal to say the least.
Although "The Plastic Shop" above stocks Acetal Homopolymer as standard they are different to the rest of the trade who mainly stock Copolymer as standard instead. If you ask for Acetal you will normally be supplied Copolymer rather than Homopolymer as is it also slightly cheaper.
If you want to machine your own bushes anytime try and buy PETP instead as it will remain dimensionally more stable over time than Acetal and has very similar wear properties.
We buy literally tonnes of plastic a year www.adaero.co.uk
If you want any further info please ask.

Thanks for the further clarification, Adaero. My input was very much based on the limited results of a non professional looking for answers. It's good to have someone who knows what they are talking about responding.
