Well maybe an overstatement but it will be coming down !

The New bridge will be starting work next year but this year there will be pleminary works and an archaelogical dig or two, with this in mind and my ever faithful Canon eos to hand I have started to document this ( the first road bridge to be built on the river in twenty years ) momentus occasion.

Here two shots taken this weekend I didnt want to just take a pretty picture but was looking to find something out of the ordinary, what I saw was underneath in the structure with the stark contrast between the river and urban concrete adorned with graffiti !

I will be back there next wekend so we will see what I find !

I can't claim to have been there when No 4 was built, but my much-loved Godmother lived for a long time on Ham Haugh Island, where I was brought up for many idyllic summers. She knew about the bombing of the old bridge in WW2, and the rebuilding of the temporary (ha!) bridge at first hand, as she was the district nurse.

well no-one else is going to say anything, but I like your pictures, very moody.

I will also confess to a rather geeky love of bridges...

... I also like the archive bit. The builders should have a webcam to record it in still time... perhaps they do?

windy morning stuff

Thanks for your comments, I was back again this am earlydoors and got a few shots in, what I think will unfold is the life of the bridge and its surroundings as the weeks/months go by, I have had a good look, and there is a plethora of interesting stuff there but for the time being I am going to concentrate on the car park side, here are a couple of shots, yep the pipe again but I think this works, and a shot of the Chaps that get rid of the rubbish and stuff.
