walton backwater best entry time.?

Thanks for the link swatchways that is interesting. I understood it was an explosives factory, maybe it was during the war. I guess what they make is explosive but they might not want to publicise making armaments (if they do at all).

If you look on google map you will see there are some small boats moored up that creek. I do intend to walk along the paths that go down to the creeks from the road in Great Oakley someday.
Explosions possibly from Shoeburyness.
Gt Oakley still active with manufacturing & coasters still taking the "product" away

explosives

thats true - they do manufacture and ship explosives and a few other volatile chemicals there

if you look at google earth you can see the bunded truck parks and the way the buildings are spread well apart.

At high tides you can see some pretty big ships going up there - they look very weird going through the saltmarshes - I am told they are well guarded by blokes with hechler and kochs

You can see my video of the place here

Might be a dense question - something I should know - but why would there be explosions from shoeburyness, I wasn't aware of anything significant there?

Ah, never knew that - thanks sailorman!! :)

A few year's ago, a friend's auntie at Holland on sea had a window blown out due to a big bang from Shoeburyness Gunnery.

Amazing how power can travel across water.

Reminds me of a sailing pal of mine who has very powerful emissions at sea. Might be something to do with my idea of seamanship and navigation though.
