Happened to be in Wallingford yesterday afternoon (by car), and had a walk down to the river.
I noticed that the mooring fees have doubled in price from last year - now £10 per boat per night!
 
not exactly, they went up to £7 last year and then again this year. I have spoken to folks that have blank refused to pay Angie and faced with those she has little choice but to walk on.
You can also do what most folks do and leave at just before 0900 as she collects about 09:15-09:30, tickles me to watch all the boats move off then!
Personally i think its worth it....just
 
The £10 mooring fee at Wallingford is now being collected in the evening. Angie comes round at about 6pm. The council asked her to to do this after 6 boats departed early on Monday morning!
 
Wallingford is not the safest place to moor anyway. A few years ago my boat was broken into and there was an attempted break in on another occasion when I was on the boat. The attempted break in was by a young girl of all things! A few choice words sent her packing.

From what I can make out the perpetrators are not local people. I will leave you to form your own conclusion to who the perpetrators are, I know from my own enquiries but it would be improper to post that on this forum.

Keep an eye on your boat and gear on these moorings.
 
The only damage to boats in Wallingford I’ve seen was done by a puppy that was locked in the boat
(You know who you are :rolleyes:)

But, um, hasn’t it been some years since you’ve been on the river?
Things may have changed drastically :)

shaggy dog stories are quite common though

Angie collected mooring fees on two mornings I was there last week, on both occasions in the morning around 9am.
Dont know what all this fuss is about. The town side moorings are excellent and £10 per night is the same as Henley Town, HRR at Fawley Meadow, Uri Geller at Sonning. Only a few hundred yards from town centre, many good eating places and regular buses to Oxford if you fancy a visit.
Moorings on swimming pool side also now being collected by Angie but were a nightmare last week with kids jumping in the river and doing all the obnoxious things kids do !
 
Come on £10/night is not a lot of money when you compare it to other moorings across the SE of England!!

Thanks Prof Pat Pending for your sarcastic replies to my posts.

Anyway, as a free boater with a trailered craft I have decided to give the Thames a miss this year and as I am getting on a bit possibly for good. Unmanned slime covered lock staircases, scruffy louts living on floating hovels along the river, faffing about booking moorings at EA sites, thieving b******s turning over your boat when you go out for a pint.

Yes, the old river has appeared to have changed but not for the better.

Don't bother with any more sarcastic replies as I will not be logging in again.
 
I would be very happy to pay £10 mooring fee at Wallingford if only I could find a spot. I've been through there many times but never been able to find a spare mooring spot. Last time a couple of weeks ago a Diesel Supply canal boat just beat me to the last available space.

The 'diesel supply' man is a very nice person and so is his dog - I'm sure he wouldn't have minded your breasting up with him!

Chris and Stanley respectively, yep top fella.
Why Harleyford doesn't arrange a regular fuelling session for its poor customers with chris eg once a month, is a mystery?
