Wallas Hob help please

Just picked up our 18 month old Nordstar 31 - shes a beaut but we cant get the Wallas Diesel hob to start. Apparently the first owner never used it but it did light when the boat was handed over to him.

We checked the (near vertical) fuel line from the tank and possibly due to the lack of use it was empty so bled it through but still cant get the hob to light up. Pump and fan seem to be operating OK.

One thought is that some Wallas systems need about 5 mins after switching on to establish diesel flow; then a red light comes on, and voila

It sounds like the glow element has burnt out, they are cheap to buy but a bit fiddly to change if you haven't done one before, you need to take the hob out so you can work on the under side if you don't have very good access already.
It involves removing the bottom cover on the flame cannister then there is a second cover under which lies an element with two wires to it, if you follow the two wires out from the cannister you can ohm test it to see if its gone before you take it all apart.

We used to have one of those. It was a bit sensitive to voltage. We also added an extra fuel filter for it, but for some reason we kept having occasional problems with firing it up.

There is a service kit for it, which should have all the important replacement parts.

OK its a 85DU

The fuel is dripping from the needle onto the tray at the bottom of the combustion pan but the glow plug doesn't seem to get hot - its only 18months old and to the best of my knowledge has only been used a couple of times so its hard to imagine the glow plug is burnt out.

I put a meter on the electrical connections to the glowplug and it appears its not getting any supply

I have check the main voltage feed its a healthy 13.5 v - checked all the connections/fuses and fuel feed is tight.

The rest seems to be all in the PCB - could I be getting too much voltage ?

Thinking might have to send it back to the manufacturer which is a P in the A

Turns out to be a faulty PCB - Karunda are replacing it but it going to cost the previous owner the thick end of £200 - lesson is if you have a fault make sure it gets repaired before the warranty expires !

SWMBO will be delighted she can now make me a cuppa !
