I have one of these (original I expect from 1986) and it seems to be working well. However there is a sound whIch appears to be coming from the exhaust/combustion chamber below the heat exchanger. The best way I can describe it is a kind of 'gurgling' sound, quite clearly the sound of air or exhaust similar to the sound you get by blowing across tube or pipe. I suspect the flow of air or exhaust is being restricted. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a modification or fix?

I had an 1800S of about that age. The only time it became noticeably noisy was when a fan motor bearing was worn. A drop of oil gave a temporary cure. A new motor/fan assembly a permanent one. It didn't sound like the noise that you describe though, more of a steady whine.
You could speak to Kuranda. I found them helpful.

Thanks for the response. The fans are running ok, I am sure it's coming from the combustion chamber. I have found a video in which the chamber is taken apart which I am watching at the moment. My instinct is that a clean and internal inspection may reveal the problem. I'll give Kuranda a call tomorrow to see if there's a service kit and ask for their advice.
Edit, I have had a look at their website and plenty of service kits and spares available.
