OK so what have I missed - We are looking for something to suit me the wife 2 kids under 10 and 2 mutts (!) for blatting around the Clyde from our base on Arran and staying the odd overnight.

Looking at 30 to 35ft walkaround/semi walkaround, side door/s type designs & Wife wont have a Targa/Nordstar style thing so we are down to the Aquador 32 & Nimbus Nova 350 ... what else have I missed ?

nimbus 320 +34?Rodman?Benteau Antares type?
Somewhat depends on speed and budget, new or second hand?

ok
but 30 knots will knock out a few boats...
Never really paid any attention to Rodman, but looked over one the other weekend, and I thought.. hmm.. serious boat this.

Yes 30 knots is probably more than I need - the budget is unlikely to stretch to twin engines also - thanks for the suggestions Deleted User - your right some of those are a bit traditional for our tastes but that Back Cove 33 looks a bit differrent.

"Wife won't have a Targa/Nordstar style type of thing"

Has she been on one?
Has she been out to sea on one?
Does she realise how wonderfully safe for kids/dogs they are?

If she doesn't change her view, once she can answer yes to the above, then you'll just have to get rid of her

How about looking at the Rhea range?

I've been on a Nordstar 31 & thought it did all the important stuff really well - think the wife doesn't fancy the look of the inside - too traditional even if the wee lamb could run up some differrent curtains. All a bit lost on me that stuff but unless I trade her in along with the Rib I will need to do some more convincing !

What you want is one of these

But you can't have this one cos it's mine

I've always thought that that's a really good looking and purposeful boat. Rodmans have always seemed more solid to me, than the similar type of Bens/Jeans.
What sort of top and cruising speeds do you get out of her?

OK thanks - we are off to the south coast to have a look around an Aquador 32 and some Nimbus (es?) next week & i'll pester you with more questions after that - meanwhile I will try & drag the wife onto a Nordstar 31

I have to agree with Blackfeather-A Rodman is the boat you need. We have a 970 with twin Kad300s 30kts easy to handle and very family friendly. If you are coming south pop in to BRS Marine in Chichester they are the UK Rodman dealer-Good service too! Cheers

Well despite a typically lousy Scottish day in March the wife liked the Nordstar 31 so its back in contention - just an Aquador 32 and the Nimbus to see later this week.

We have had an offer accepted an 14 month old Nordstar 31 - twin D4 260's, Flybridge and every other extra I can think of.

Yippee

Thanks for all your helpful advice folks.
