Nanna turns 100 next Wednesday. She's harping constantly about returning home to IOM. You havent got the stomach to stop that old warlord capitalising on her wish. She held off the Roman legions single handedly by all accounts and can still wield her walking cane like its a war hammer.

You try telling the old bat she cant go and visit old friends and family and must go on the QT. We've had to lock all the gates to stop her fleeing the garden. The outrage we've had to put up with for disturbing her routine

I went to the Isle of Man once in the very early 1980s. A day trip on an old boat from Holyhead, another 300 passengers. No catering or bar ( not the IOMs fault) . What a disaster. Sunday. Delayed departure, Obviously delayed arrival. Pubs and restaurants closed due to Sunday rules at the time. Rain blasting down. Not been there since I'm afraid.

I did mean to go back on our boat, it didn't happen.

For 3 days in 1973 I had to share a bedroom in Liverpool with fellow student, he was from from the IOM. We even went to Goodison park together. He then went back, nothing to do with me !
