WALDER boombrake

Has anyone experience with the the WALDER boombrake? I am sailing a Jeanneau 39i with the mainsheet traveler before the companionway. The mainsheet is operated by a winch, as is the traveler although he can be handled my hand. Gybing when sailing before the wind is for a short man/wife crew a big job... winching the mainsheet, bringing the traveler in the middle, than gybing and controlling the genua and last but not least put the traveler on the other side, and releasing the mainsail. As is in the brochure, the WALDER does that without winching the mainsail?
Also sailing before the wind in a blow, an accidental gybe is not what we want to happen. The WALDER claims also to control an accidental gybe, not as a preventer which can be very dangerous when not loosen in time, resulting in a Chinese gybe.

Hi, I have a Walder Boombrake on my boat and it works quite well. It works on a friction basis to slow down a jybe and prevent damage to the rig. It is quite big and unweildy and, on a 35 foot boat, slight overkill. I have decided to replace it with the Wichard boombrake which is great. Much smaller, very simple and does the job on pretty much the same principle. I have the Walder for sale if anyone is interested. I agree, much safer than a preventer.
