My boat, a 22' MAKO centre console T-top powered by two 85hp Yamaha's, makes a smaller wake at planing speed in comparison to ploughing along at low (not crawl) speeds.

However I slow down (come off the plane) when passing anchored craft (sailing or motor) so people do not get upset, although this action causes more disturbance than if I had just continued at speed on the plane.

Anyone else find this applies to them as well?

Seems nobody is awake to your wake question at the Mo!
It is true that lots of planing hulls make less disturbance whilst performing at their optimimum.
But the 'populous' might not 'get it' as it were.
To the parked/moored peeps you are a holligan, belting along.
Possibly receiving the 'victory' sign as you dissapear into the yonder.
You know and lots do that a planing hull will cause more fuss at 10 kts than 20!
Especially the architypical 30 ft sportsboat etc.
We have a speed limit area (like lots do) locally @ 5kts
Sometimes the current is doing similar anyway!
So if one would stick to the rules verbatum, yer aint going anywhere like!!!!! against the tide.
I think the trick is go keep thrutching through at speed (where safe of course) and ignore the uneducated. Sometimes, to slow down and get off the plane, down to zero kts and chunter along so as not make a wavy disturbance that might spill a G@T.
I have noticed over the Years that if you 'sit' a planing hull down and then increase speed the hull will make less fuss to those around us.

In principle I agree with you entirely, however, you are missing two crucial points.

1) Speed Limits to limit wake are in general a farce, and should be replaced with wake limits - If you are creating a larger wave, you are still going too fast.

2) In the locations you are talking about there is an increased risk of swimmers in the water, boats moving about that may be hidden from you behind another until it is too late to avoid a collision, someone may be boiling a kettle or cooking on the anchored boat. Even a small wake could knock over a something holding scalding water - The wake may be small but will be powerful and fast.

Show some consideration for a few moments. Tonight will still come, and so will tomorrow.

For people who blather on about wakes from mobos, always rabid yotties of course, its not actually about your wake. If they were truly bothered by wakes from other boats, there'd be regular threads on this forum shrieking about the monstrous wakes from commercial craft like ferries, pilot boats, harbourmasters launches etc which are far larger than any mobo can generate.
The real point is that they just dont like mobos. For them, your chosen mode of water transport is the work of the Devil and they want you to know it. So, for them, they don't give a fig that you make less wake at 25kts than you do at 10kts. Its not about that. Its about them being able to exercise control over you; its a way for them to show disapproval of you and your boat. In fact, its just another form of the all pervading political correctness that blights this country.

No. They are not strapped / held down.
Have never had them move or shift.
Those tanks are spares.
You can also see three other 'jerry cans' at the stern, with a small cooler on the port side..
In that pic, I was running-in the engines with extra oil.
There is a 45 gallon tank below deck under the shippers seat.
Normally there is a cooler in that location.

I tend to get the boat up on the plane and throttle back until the boat is just stays on the plane.
Ideal cruising speed and fuel consumption for me.

I try not to run the boat so that it becomes airborne (or partly) and then slams back into the water.

On many occasion, I have to slow right down when heading up the Narrows - channel between St.Kitts and Nevis - due to the Atlantic Ocean swells [nothing between us and Africa] reaching the shallow Channel and becoming 'large', sometimes over 12'0".
Constant throttle attention is required.

Another few pics before reinstalling the T-top and having a lot of upgrading work done and it was powered by two 90hp Mercurys (or is that Mercraps?).
