I put my name down for a mooring in The Bosham Channel 6 months ago and fortunately got the call yesterday that one is available for next year. Great, it is not the cheapest at £1600 plus Harbour dues but they will be running a free ferry from Bosham for those with boats and it has to be one of the nicest spots in the Solent (I don,t like being in a holiday camp marina apart from the showers!).

So with boat sales on the rise, mooring waiting lists are doing the same. It could be going back to the old days of waiting a year or two for a mooring. No problem accessing your boat during a lockdown either, Ahem!

I think you're confused about the word free. I think you meant inclusive since you're clearly paying for the service!

Well don,t tell the mooring holders in Itchenor Dave as they still have to pay for their Ferry. The mooring prices have all stayed the same in relation to each other, it is a new ferry service for Bosham, but you have a point although a bloody miserable one Lol! ;) are you still in contact with Russel, I do look out for him in Mylor when I visit family their. Still has his Cornish Crabber...

I see his posts on Facebook but not been in contact for years, probably as I didn't do a lot of sailing for a while :)

Yes it was a bit of a miserable point to be fair, I think it's a lack of boating causing it but I'm doing some mucking about on Tuesday on the water so fingers crossed :D

Is the ferry an Easter the end of October thing or does it run all year round?

I believe it will be and between 10-5. I don,t know if the service comes under Andy's Ferry from Itchenor, he was talking about the possibility of doing the extra route a few years ago. Maybe using a RIB. The service for both is mainly for visitors. We visit Bosham at least once a month and my wife did say last weekend that she saw a sign saying the Itchenor Ferry was still running which is unusual, but it is still quite busy at weekends.

For us it will just be a bonus getting four aboard. It saves doing two trips by tender and buying an outboard. The Bosham Manor still offers the little red tenders free to mooring holders. I couldn,t have positioned our mooring by choice more perfectly being opposite The Saltings House about half way down the Channel. When the ferry is not running I can park opposite the boat up the lane and inflate the Dinghy for a very short row ?

The ferry 'caught up' with me late one Monday evening in July, from talking to the chap driving it I think the service is separate from the Itchenor one.
