Waiting list at marinas ?

I bought my first boat this year, a T40 which is just under 13m. I did my training at Shamrock Quay (in Southampton) and wanted to base it in the Solent. I contacted MDL and seem to recall they had at least 2 or 3 spaces available at most of their Solent marinas. I guess if you have a longer boat this would affect availability?

Further, my boat was sold with a berth included at Bucklers Hard Marina (which I didn't want at all). I was told there is a waiting list of well over a year to get in there so out of curiosity I sent an enquiry and it turned out to be rubbish as they had immediate availability.
There’s certainly a waiting list at Bucklers Hard now as I’m on it!

A friend got a resident’s pontoon mooring on the Dart this year. Twelve years on the wait list.

You must own Richards boat , I won’t type the name .
I looked after the oily bits for a few years , great boat .
Yes you appear in the receipts / paperwork several times so it probably is the one you're thinking of! I'm sure you'll be working on it again soon :)

Thanks for the replies so far - it is quite interesting
The Marina at Woolverstone has put me on the waiting list when I only enquired- However after careful considerations we have decided not to go there and as a side note it is a 50% more than we are paying out our current marina which has better facilities.

Big waiting list in Plymouth dry stack. Difficult to get work done; boat sales still very healthy. What amazes me is the money people pay for marinas and dry stacks, but don’t put to sea!
