We currently have a 36 liter Campinggas thermoelectric coolbox that uses a lot of electricity and does not cool very enthusiastically.
We therefor consider to buy the Waeco CF-25 compressor coolbox. Has anybody experience with these units? Especially the power consumption and cooling capacity? They are quite expensive (€ 450,- or so), so before we buy we would appreciate your views.
Many thanks in advance!

I've got a Waeco CF-18, only because a larger one wouldn't fit in the available space. I can recommend the Waeco fridges. They're good on power consumption and cooling power. Also being able to work off the mains is an advantage.
If there is a downside, it's it's capability to freeze the milk and orange juice if I set it too low.

I have one of these too, but it has lost its "ommph" (I guess the coolant gas has leaked away somewhat), consequently it's now of little function as a cool box. I have been told that these are not repairable. While it worked it was great, and yes, everything will freeze if you're a little heavy handed on the setting.

Regards,
Jeff.

We have had a Waeco 25 for three seasons now - best thing we have bought in years. It works really well and so far with no problems at all and that's running it for about 4/5 months continuously.

Good thing is it auto switches from 12v to 240v if put on the correct setting when the battery gets down a bit and you can select High/Med/Low for this setting.

Hmm .. My memory has played a trick on me, I have the CF-25, not the 18. It's now 7 years old and hasn't been working usefully for the last three years. Its been filling up a corner of the shed, hence not getting the model right /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

However, will try the people on the link posted to see if it can be serviced. Fingers crossed. I might just have been unlucky with mine.

Regards,
Jeff.
