Hi - My question is - on the Kad300 engine is the oil a standard mineral oil used which can be sourced at a motor factors and how much is needed when doing a service.
Q2 - what is the recommended coolant to use and how much is needed - again can you get this from a factors?

Many thanks in advance

Jon

Oil needs to be VP or VP spec from memory VDS 5 ? It's synthetic
I suspect coolant is "special " too -something to do with anti corossion issues -
I would and infact did only use VP fluids ( when I had KAD 300 ,s ) -just a tiny extra £ in the total running of a boat

It was vds2, but I think they make vds3 as the base now. Should need about 22 litres for both engines, but I usually find a 20 litre drum just about does it.VP truck centres can usually get it cheap for you, or Keypart sometimes do free delivery and price is OK. Avoid small quantities!
I don't recall VP antifreeze being especially expensive, and I assume you are not looking at minus 40 in Northern Finland as a location ?
If you are around Southampton, the truck place off M271 can help out, and usually get you a few other bits at trade prices.

I understand you should not use synthetic or semi synthetic oil.Mineral oil is best 15w40 vds4.

Hi,
Rimula is a good choice - However go for Rimula R4L (latest generation Volvo VDS-4). RT4X is Volvo VDS-3 approved. Have used it for 3 years now on my KAD 300.
