I've cleaned, painted and done all i can on my DP-E drive...even bought the right tool to get the props off.

What i can't fine is a torque setting for the center locking nut on the end spinner. All i can find is to do it up as tight as i can by hand with the right tool...which i have done...and locktight it for extra measure.

Any thoughts folks...first time doing this.

That's all I do, tight as possible by hand with the throttle engaged and been doing that for the last 15+years and not been a problem. I don't use locktight but I do make sure I use prop grease for easier removal.

DPE I think means the larger bolt which the manual indicates to tighten by hand however some propcones I think dp have a smaller bolt and these can come loose if you over tighten. Previous owner of a boat I had lost a prop that way. I used a torque wrench to set to the torque settings in the manual for the DP drive and neverhad any problems. DPE on my KAD 44 I do by hand, firmly tighten but not excessive and have not had any problems yet.

There are two types of centre bolt on DP drives.

The older smaller one, it's 22Nm ... any more and the bolt snaps.

The newer drives with the larger bolt (e.g. DP-E) it's 70-80Nm. If you don't tighten this properly, and ensure a clean mating face between the back of the spinner and the prop surface, then see the photo below as to what happens:
