I have twin VP D4 300s, 185 hours each, in their sixth season.
This last year was the first time I moved away from dealer servicing to a competent and trusted independent yard.
I have an oil leak on starboard, it is forward end of engine, drip pattern suggests more or less central but of course that’s just how it could be running down engine. Nothing visible on inspection of visible areas.
It may correlate with accidentally shutting down whilst in reverse - but port hasn’t caused same problem. Has happened twice now - once when I accidentally shut down in reverse; I restarted, ran for a while and shut down normally twice with no replication. Then a few days later from cold started, run, and shut down in reverse again to replicate first problem, and it’s reoccurred. So the shut down in gear may, or may not, be relevant.
I’ve asked for an engineers visit, but would welcome any wisdom anyone can add as to what may be going on.
