Do NOT run the engine, that's a ridiculous suggestion.
Connect from the elbow to the bucket and leave the pump running until the solution stops fizzing. That's 1-4 hours.
A cheap pond pump works well for this job.
Agreed, when I did my raw water cooled 2GM20 on Triola, I used warm water in my bucket to help the reaction, however, I followed Rydlymes advice to the letter (I emailed them plenty about the process also) and wrote it up below. Running the engine is not necessary.

The process, it would appear, for my indirectly cooled D2-55 is somewhat simpler!
