evening all , been told i need a new water pump volvo kad , any members give me a idea what £ to expect for supply and labour to fit. thks

Sounds like a rip off. I can't see the labour being more than an hour. What failed with the old pump?

Ray,
Guess you must be in Vilamoura by now. I am assuming that you have just spoken to the engineers based at Vilamoura marina. Try Bluewater Algarve 282 432 404 (Portimao), or Sopromar 282 763 889 (Lagos) to see whether they can give a more competitive quote. Can't guarantee they will but at that price worth a try.

Parts pricing in Portugal is ferocious, you may get a better deal in ordering from the UK and having it sent by parcel post to you at the Marina, should then only cost you the labour to fix. Parcel services are pretty good here, takes about three - five working days to arrive from order to receipt. Send me a PM if you need any further help.

This site: http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-cat-7738870.aspx is a great resource for pricing up components. The pump seems to be just over €500 outright or €400 exchange (both inc VAT at 25%), so expect to be able to shop around. Your quote does seem a rip-off...

Why get a complete new pump when it just needs bearings? You can get the repair kit which includes bearings and seals and the shaft I think for a lot less. If it is just the bearings you can get them from SKF for less than £20!
