I am considering the purchase of a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 805. Question is do I go for the 6cyl TamD41p or the 4cyl Nanni. What speeds are being achieved? Is a 6 any quieter than the 4. Will she plane more easily with the Volvo. is engine smoke an issue???. Etc, Etc.

Based on no knowledge at all of the Nanni, would have thought that the six will be smoother than the four and that there is no substitute for cubes and torque.
Especially in the marine world.

Thanks for your information. The cc of the volvo is certainly a lot greater than the nanni, the extra torque should go some way to compensate for the weight difference.
Anyone running the volvo Tamd41p in a different craft, if so what do you think??
Any useful comments on the 805 itself would be good.

The Volvo Penta TAMD 41p is a good bullet proof engine and has been in production for 20 or more years in one form or another it will be phased out in a few years time but that is not a worry as there are thousands in service so spares should not be a problem.

The Nanni 200hp is a Toyota engine that has been marinised by Nanni in france .

The Nanni is a 3.0l and weighs 355 kg incl gearbox and the Volvo Penta is a 3.6L and weighs 550kg incl gearboxs.

A close call both are good engines, I have used both, whats the easiest for servicing where you are.

personaly i would go for the larger cube.

Fill in your bio and i will give you the lowdown on both. Started off with Merry fisher 805 18 months ago with Nanni, had Prestige 36 this year with Volvo D6's. I have all the answers.

Thanks, thats good to know that the Volvo has a reliable history. I guess what suits one does not always suit the other.

Can't quite stretch to the Prestige right now, so have settled for the 805 with the Tamd41 subject to sea trial. Seems all ok with very very low hours, soon see.
Am very interested in any info you have regarding the 805, good, bad or the ugly.
Regards
Mick.

Thanks for that. Bio completed. 34 knts you must be refering to Prestige and not the MF 805. When you refer to covers, which covers do you mean?

Boat wise its worth looking at the Ocqueteau range , sturdy, well built and fitted with either Nanni or Volvo Penta .

Look at the 835 which has the extra single berth over the MF 805 and a size smaller either the 715 or the new 765 which is announced at Paris show in December. The 835 is also fitted with the KAMD 300 which makes it fly .

UK dealers are South Woodham Marine who have a website but I cant do links.

Best of luck
