If its any help the D6's on my last boat (D6 350) would rise to 90 degrees for 2 reasons -
1. Heat exchanger needed a flush with Rydlyme (although last time used a starbright product with my engineer now raves about)
2. I was on outdrives and one of the simplest reasons was too much growth on the water intakes. Screw off the grids on the drives, clean off and away you go, it does cause an overheat if its clogged or fouled.
On over heating the increase in temp behaved exactly as how you have described yours. Rising to 90 and no more.
