... but what is the precise identity of the Perkins Prima 80 T when its installed in a Ford van?

Where can I find a complete spares list? Trying to build my spares but at better price than Volvo...

Many thanks as always.

Never in a Ford. Was exclusive to British Leyland as it was based on their then current petrol engine. Used in Maestro, Montego and Leyland or LDV vans. Think the version you have is unique to the marine application. That does not mean that consumables such as filters, cam belts, gaskets etc are not the same, but anything to do with the turbo or marinisation will be unique, probably only to Volvo as not sure that version was sold as a Perkins.

AH! Thanks Tranona... more information yet. What are LDV vans... ? Sorry if it seems a silly question, I just don't know.

Thank you Duncan,

Meanwhile, I doubt the users of these Perkins engines surely did not use less than 80HP? Therefore, the Turbo Charger should be seen somewhere?

The base unit is the Perkins Prima (also the Perkins M50 which was the marine version)

It was used in the Austin Maestro as a non-turbo (like the MD22)
It was used in the Austin Montego as a turbo engine
It was also used in Leyland Serpa and LDV vans as a turbo unit.

The turbo is the same unit, but the monifold is different.

If you google "perkins prima" and then whatever part you want (so head gasket set, cambelt kit, water pump, etc) you should find what you want.

You can get the turbos for about £300 from a motor factor.

Hello SkipperStu,

Cannot find your references... can you find your thread?

Appreciated... the search function is not quite on par with Google...

Just type MD22 into the search box. There is a thread about a water pump on ebay. That's the one.

There are also a lot more threads that you will find useful.
