I have sourced fuel filters from various Volvo Penta parts supplier for the tamd41 as I have done for many years now and this time I have been supplied with a 3840335,
21624740 replacement. This filter has a concave centre and the threads are about 6mm deeper into the filter. Also the central sealing washer is not compressed against the filter head due to the larger gap allowing contamination to bypass the filter via the threads. I have been told by the supplier these are now the latest version and are correct. All the previous filters had a convex centre and the threads are only about 3mm below the top of the filter. The supplied filters only screw on by about 1 turn of thread before starting to compress the outer seal so are only held on by a couple of turns of thread. Has anyone else noticed this and think it is not correct? The versions are visually very different. Are these really the correct filter? Does anyone have alternative part numbers from other manufacturers? The old filters went in to the skip before I opened the box with the new filters!
