I have sourced fuel filters from various Volvo Penta parts supplier for the tamd41 as I have done for many years now and this time I have been supplied with a 3840335,
21624740 replacement. This filter has a concave centre and the threads are about 6mm deeper into the filter. Also the central sealing washer is not compressed against the filter head due to the larger gap allowing contamination to bypass the filter via the threads. I have been told by the supplier these are now the latest version and are correct. All the previous filters had a convex centre and the threads are only about 3mm below the top of the filter. The supplied filters only screw on by about 1 turn of thread before starting to compress the outer seal so are only held on by a couple of turns of thread. Has anyone else noticed this and think it is not correct? The versions are visually very different. Are these really the correct filter? Does anyone have alternative part numbers from other manufacturers? The old filters went in to the skip before I opened the box with the new filters!

Thanks for the replies and part numbers so far, I will investigate them. I tried to upload a picture of the obvious difference but the image is too large. The issue is with the supplier stating the 3840335 replaces all the previous versions for the ad41 series even though it is a very different fitting and I do not want to buy from any other Volvo Penta dealer and receive this pattern, I would rather source the original style. I will try to upload a picture to make things clear. Is the supplier just supplying the wrong filter?

Commonly in Denmark. Dizzy Too, most of the time.

The cross reference site, which is an Amazon Associate, has cousins for oil- and airfilters also:
Oil filter cross reference
Air filter cross reference

There are way more filter brands than manufacturers - plus some unbranded.

For my use of filters in cars & boats Wix and Parker Racor have worked flawlessly and is what I'm carrying onboard, each in a closed freezer bag to keep moisture away from the filter elements.

You may not at all times have a choice, but FYI this site has info on
Top 27 Fuel Filter OEM Manufacturers in 2019 - MZW Motor

Mahle made the original ones for the 41 but they had a plastic drain plug which is no good for inland waterways regulations .
