Hello,

my Volvos have an bypass valve to the aftercooler on the air inlet side that I suspect not to work properly.

Any advice in how can I check the function of the aftercooler bypass valve without dismantling anything?

I know they should open atb0.4 at boost.

Best regards

Dietmar

Hi why do you ask this .? What problem do you have with the engine if it's no power or black smoke it could be the turbo that's failing, generally the boost bypass valve gives very little trouble

I had a loss of power with the engine not going beyond 1700 rpm in connection with black smoking.

Meanwhile I found several things:
water and dirt in the tank (meanwhile removed and filters replaced)
2 of the 6 injection nozzles were not closing properly (redone)
Air blowing out at the preheater box due to failed gaskets and loose screws.

My question os posted as I am working on the parts anyhow now and just want to be shure and exclude other failures.

Also my engines did not go above 2500 rpm when working (have bought the boat used last year from dealer, so I dont know the history). I had my screws measured and they seem to be the right ones (in comparison to a sister ship that does 5 knts more and the engines going up to 2800 rpm)
