hi can anyone tell me where the pick up for the rev counter is located on a 150HP volvo, one rev counter keeps jumping from 0 to 600 rpm when ticking over.
I think it may be located on the fly wheel bell housing have had a quick look but cant see anything.
Many thanks

sure there are much more qualified than me to coment but I am just changing the flybridge clocks on my 310 to Faria. Have been told by many that this is standard practice for Volvo clock with one person I know changing his for OEM clocks twice before changing to Faria and expierencing no further problems.
All 4 of my clocks do funny things but the lower helms can usually be fixed with a sharp blow from a metalic object.

Had this on my ad41b'sa a while back.
Think it will be from the back of the alternator - check your wiring diagram ? - sounds like just a poor contact - do get a bit cruddy.
Perhaps pop out the tacho and check incoming voltage there (think its the grey wire ?) and will be a lowish, variable with revs, voltage incoming.
