I have just purchased a yacht with a 10 yr old Volvo 2010 with a full Volvo service history (last service Oct 2008). I tried to change the fuel filter because of the state of the fuel in the rusty tank looked more like tar than diesel and the filter looked rather rusty. I tried in vain. The filter was seized on solidly. I removed the filter housing to take it home. It still would not unscrew. I pierced the filter and out ran more tar like fuel. It still would not unscrew (remember the service in October 2008?). I cut the filter up into pieces and eventually managed to remove it.
Shall I be paying hundreds of pounds to have the engine serviced by a Volvo agent? Not on your life! It will be another "do it yourself jobbie" that will now be done properly.
Anyone else out there who has experienced this quality of service from a prestigious Volvo service centre?
