Volvo QL Bowthruster

Hi Guys..........advice wanted! think my shear pin has "sheared" as bow thruster motor operating ok, but not the prop. Am hoping it was the mass of seaweed floating around the marina that bunged up the tunnel.

Can the pin be replaced from within, or is it on the prop end........hoping to avoid a lift out

The pin is on the prop end so a lift out I'm afraid. I assume you change the anode each year but if not replace with Volvo anode 41100098 while you're at it.

Remove motor first as thrusters usually have 2 shearpins, 1 on prop and 1 on motor drive, the motor drive one is normally a smaller size than the prop one and is designed to break first so you should be able to avoid a lift out.

Replaced my QL400 pins, seals and belt recently. It needed a lift. Make sure to change the drive belt and prop seals too at the same time. Have all the needed parts in your hands before the liftout.

Recently done my Sealine F33 which I think has the QL600, mine has no belt and 2 shear pins, 1 on the prop and 1 on the motor drive, was dead easy to remove the motor in 10 mins while in the water and check.
