Volvo Penta TMD22 Advice Please

Much more sensible! £24.75 for the belt including the tensioner and idler is more like it. £140 for a water pump seems a bit on the high side though and so I wondered what the comparable Perkins part would be. It's £139 (https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/...2fe9db4700a188d4550d9f0b9b2d1fd24c9bab&000332). So how much would a Montego/Maestro/DAF van part would be? Does anyone know what the Leyland/DAF part number might be and I can ask my local motor factor?

Read the previous posts about cheap water pumps, false economy.

Belt + tensioner + idler is more like £112 from p4e - you need to select the right option there to see the price, bit confusing.

Part numbers are:
Timing Belt: Gates 5190 ~£25
Idler: INA 532008810 ~£50
Tensioner: INA 531009910 ~£40
Water pump: Perkins U5MW0085 (minor modification needed)

I've got everything from p4e - the water pump was by far the cheapest there (£140 vs. £240 on eBay) and the rest of the bits were about the same. The Perkins water pump needs the small outlet at the top plugged. If you get it from p4e this is already done (with a grub screw and some sealant).

Brilliant, many thanks. I'm viewing the boat next Friday so if all goes well I'll print this off and take it to my local factors to see what he's got/can get for me.

parts4engines are a great source for parts... cheaper than VP...

Only just spotted this. Go with parts4engines every time. The montego maestro water pumps on ebay are different configurations to us, a different shape outlet. The leyland daf, if you can find one is the same with a threaded screw needed to blank one outlet. Again, p4e are best.
The timing pins, 6mm bolts are fine. two bolts in the pump pulley hold that in place, one in the flywheel housing starboard side and one through the rocker cover after removing the blanking screw, so 4 in total. My freshwater pump is still the original from 1999 and I have changed the belt twice in my 9 years of ownership. The belt itself is wide and bullet proof, mine was about 9 or so years old when I first changed it.
No need for any specialised tools, dont overtighten the belt, it will "sing" if you do.
About a two hour job taking your time.

Just want to add one thing .
Just make sure all the marks line up before starting , I found my pump had to be held back a few mm or the timing would had been out even tho I used 6mm drill bits .
Double check .

Good plan is to mark all of the pulleys against the casings with some TipEx. Dried instantly and almost glows in the dark.

A quick note of thanks to all those who responded. We didn't quite manage to agree terms and the boat is now off the market until the spring. Saves me having to winterise and store it. What will be will be. :)
