Volvo Penta throttle control

I have something similar going on.

Neutral is always neutral but on the port engine fwd may need just a little extra push to engage. then it is normal.

The lower helm is fine, only the fly. I have changed pot also.

I have had all EVC connectors off and sprayed with contact cleaner.

The last time this happened I played with the plugs to the throttles ( again I have done it before) and then it went back to normal. I then left the boat a few days later and it had not done it.

Mine is not immediately on shutdown but some random time post calibration.

At present given how it changed after I played with it ( and did not calibrate) I am assuming that it is or was a connection to the throttle. If it does it again I will probably swap with the lower helm throttle and take a very good look at the connector.

The connector as you knonw connects directly to the Bosche pot so the throttle itself has no connections. I did also buy another pot just in case but I cant see this.

If the have 2 helms see what happens on the other one as a poor connection is most likely in my view. I have not swapped EVC units around yet ( well the upper ones). Mine is mildly irritating no more. Yours sounds a bit more problematic.

Hello
I am having problems with my starboard engine losing calibration. I have had new pots fitted, new throttle & the wiring hard wired. The modules have also been swapped over to see if the fault was the module but it is not. The engines are KAD300's . Would you be able to check if our serial numbers qualify for the Volvo Penta SPM upgrade?
The numbers are: 2300075268 2300075246
The boat is a 2004 Gobbi 425SC
The starboard engine will only start when the throttle is in the reverse position, although something is telling it it is in neutral.
Hope you can help.
Andy
Try swapping the gear shift actuators over. It's a 5 minute job. There's some micro switches in there that could be causing your issue.

the SPM upgrade is only fir the 74/75 series, so not relevant to your KAD300’s

What are your engine serial numbers? There could well be a campaign available for your engines that addresses this issue.

Description of the problem as per the attached, which sounds like it matches your symptoms. 75’s are included in this so if you can send your S/N then I can easily see if it’s covered or not
Hello @Andyroonot , I have the same problem and searching how to fix it I found your message. Sorry for the inconvenience, but could you please check if my engines have the same problem? Serial numbers are 2300075233 and 2300075330.

Thank you very much.

Sorry, but these are KAMD300’s and not the larger 74 or 75’s, so not covered by the campaign

Thank you very much for your answer @Andyroonot . Anyway, even if the KAMD300 is not covered by the campaign, do they have the same problem so the solution could be the same?

Again, thank you!
I really don’t know I’m afraid-these types of engines & control systems were before I started with the company I am in and my hands on experience of them is lacking
I’d like to say that it may well cure the issue if you’ve got the same symptoms as the systems are the same, but I wouldn’t know for certain
I think the SPM unit is meant to prevent erroneous messages reaching the engines due to poor connections at the throttle plugs/sockets?

Ok thank you @Andyroonot . I'll check all connections carefully and if that doesn't work, I'll try with the SPM. Even if you don't know the answer certainly, your information is very helpful.

Once it is calibrated the engine will start in the neutral position. When you turn off & start again, it has lost it's calibration. Initially this would happen once in a while, now it is all the time. The only way the engine will start is when the throttle is in the reverse position, the EDC assumes this is neutral.

Did you ever solve this ?
