Just back from a trip to the Hamble. After an hour at 2400rpm the port engine warning alarm went off and the battery warning light lit up. At this point all gauges normal with alternator showing 28v. Slowed down and after a while convinced myself to carry on cruising to Port Hamble. On arrival, switched off then on again, this time the temp warning light lit up and was flashing until I started the engine when the battery light lit up. I called Sea Start to check things over - drive belts in place, water running through exhaust, alternator charging 28v into the batteries, starter motor as lively as ever. Temp gauges showing cool engine. Concluded probably a fault with the warning light panel or one or more sensors. Today I spent 3 hours motoring back with the battery light showing but otherwise the boat was on song.

Any ideas or suggestions before I remove the warning light panel and check the connections?

if the light is on but it’s charging…..it means the yellow wire at the alternator or elsewhere is giving a ground. Check it’s not become displaced
