I own a 1989 Aquastar 33 fitted with TAMD 41B engines (200 hp) which smoke quite badly when cold, and still quite noticeably when warm. I have just had new injectors fitted in the hope that the problem would be reduced (or even eliminated) but it has made no difference. Engine oil consumption between services is nil. They have each done about 1800 hours but have been regularly serviced. I realise that it may just be a feature of these engines which I have to live with, but any ideas or thoughts would be very welcome.

We got fords, and I was hoping to beat H to the punch, but as usual he is here before me, the only time ours are clean'ish is when they are being thrashed, all other times they relax and have a smoke.

Sorry. Mine stopped smoking after it sunk. I can only put it down to the turbos being renewed and all the pipes cleaned out.

A fuel addative like Soltron helps alot. Mine never smokes after it's warmed up though.

I had 60 b`s that smoked badly for the ten years I had the boat and I found that the injector pump setting shown on two different Volvo manuals (owner and workshop) manuals varied the degrees by two degrees. I had ajusted the injector pump to one and when I sold the boat (just before) I re-ajusted it to the other and Bingo no smoke (much) so check that the injector pump settings are correct maybe! speak with volvo and double check that they are giving the right one out?

I have a fairline cornich with tamd 41b 200hp, i have got the same problem engines start up no problem and run very smothly upto about 1800 revs they are running clean, once i go over this and open the boat up they start smoking quite badly.
To make things worse with the dingy in position and the bathing platform there seams to be a back draft witch brings the smoke back to the back of the boat an leaves it full of soot. The problem i the same when warm.
it is driving me nuts.

I think they do smoke a bit, even my KAD43 on offshore diesel smoke a bit idling, on city/road diesel they are smoke free but for the first few minutes at startup. Having said that I think your comment on oil consumption being nil could be a clue, it should not be nil unless you are at 10-30 hours after fill-up and if it is you may have to much oil in the combustion chamber and diesel taking its place in the sump.
Perhaps a oil analysis would be an cost-effective next step.

I started using this to stop my eber coking up every 3 months due to [--word removed--] gas oil and as a welcome bonus after a few tankfulls my ad41s are virtually smoke free hot or cold.
Brilliant stuff.
I went onto the powerenhancer site but could not find this product which appears to be made by Millers from your link.
Would you let us have a product name or description as I would be interested to try it?
Thanks in advance.
