Hi all,

Does anyone know what the capacity is on the raw water side of the TAMD41 engine?

I want to pull antifreeze through it but drain plugs on the coolers look a little fragile so I wont be draining first. Exhausts are under water so would be hard to see when the AF comes out the back.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

D.

Hi Martyn,

There are 2 130w tube heaters in the bilge but I am ultra paranoid having replaced a cracked block in the past.

I mix about 8 liters of -36 degrees (50/50 glykol/water) antifreeze. This is enough to see it come out the exhaust.
Used on two different setups :
Sealine S37 with sterndrives
Fairline Corniche with shafts

We sometimes have temperatures downwards of -25 (even -30), and have not had any problems yet. Boat always on land during winter. I have never drained any part of the coolant system when flushing.

I work for a Volvo dealer in Finland and we have to run glycol through every engine when it’s pulled out for winter. It gets to minus 30 here but -20 freeze point is ok it turns to gel if it goes lower. 41 series start to pump glycol out after 10 liters but I normally run 15 on a drive and 20 on axles to be safe
