Has anyone fitted an after market trim sender unit for a Volvo SX leg. Volvo one is over £200 but plenty of after market ones for £50 or less. I'm very cautious about using an after market one due to boat having to be lifted to replace it.
Just wondered if anyone has used after market and how has it performed
Thanks

those are actually difficult. I got two Volvo ones and one sender is having higher resistance, at low showing something like 185 Ohms and goes up from there. and the other one starts at 17 Ohms. the one with high resistance puts the gauge too high. the other one works fine. so I will have to get one replaced. test yours before installing with a multimeter should show low resistance and increase as you turn it.

with atfermarket need to be careful I've seen few which have very poor isolation where the wire grommet seal is. also the resistance is a bit high, which means the gauge will show high value. basically it's just a potentiometer, but quality built is important.
