I feel sure this has come up before but I cant find it....
Bought my first boat this summer, now come to service it:
For a Fuel, Oil & Air filter I am being quoted £120 ex vat & P&P for 2 engines.
Fram say their cross referenced No's are obsolete! (same for Crossland & Mann & Coopers)
I guess One of the above is almost certainly making them for Volvo
The engines are Volvo AD41
Do you all put up with Volvo prices or am I missing something
Nick

Sounds about right although i have picked up oil and air filters from ebay cheaply (genuine volvo). There are alternatives im sure someone will advise shortly.

For the sake of peace of mind (I hope) i'm sticking with genuine parts. Sure it's only once a season anyhow, and it's nice to be able to say 'Only genuine parts used since new' when it comes to selling. May not mean squat, but still nice to say

I used to have ad41 and I have a pair of fuel filters left, crosland.

You can have the pair for £10 inc P+P, send me a pm if interested.

ad41b air filters (big round ones) via crosland were £3.25p from car parts shop in spring 2007. They are fitted to early 2.5d landrover and fx4 taxis etc. Exactly the same item except they dont have vp name in felt tip on side.
Send pm if you want crosland number.

Well I am using the No's off the volvo parts on the engine now
I have discovered that there is a deal between OE suppliers & volvo
IE they will not sell parts to anyone else, but if you buy a volvo part in a volvo box it will sometimes be a Fram/crossland filter in the box
where do you get your parts
cheers Nick

Find your local motor factor (prob hidden away on a nearbye ind estate) as opposed to your corner car spares shop.Best to take in the kept from last year packaging and let them match it up.As they will be sourcing truck stuff all the time boat engine filters are normally no problem. The most expensive bits are the crankcase filters. While you are there buy diesel fleet oil(presuming you need non synthetic) in 25L drums, will do two engines and still leave bit spare for the odd top up for the wife or kids less than new runabout type cars.Bought some steering fluid there once and got 5L for the same price as a couple of spoonfuls of the Volvo stuff.

My spare fuel filters have now sold, if anyone else wants to buy from local shops

The fuel filter part number is

Crosland 5006

I have a whole load of Volvo Penta Spares from the various boats I have owned over theyears, all still boxed etc.

filters, gaskets, steering pump etc....

PM me if anyone is interested...
