I visited there this year and in conversation the owner of the next door boat was very complementary about the guy based there (by the marina entrance IIRC) Mike something I believe.

Mike Willis is at Cobbs. £40 an hour the last time I used him but that was a while ago. That's not a whole lot cheaper than SAL Marine or other main agents to be honest - half the cost will be the parts.

Golden Arrow Marine do my engine as it is still in warranty. D1 30 and quote for service was £375 although that includes warranty extension for the second year.

Thanks Tranona - I had a quote from Golden Arrow which was over £400 which seemed rather high based on my recollection of what I used to pay motor tech a few years ago but it seems not based on your D1 price. What does not seem to add up how this is worked out based on a hour rate. I cannot believe the parts costs tha much having bought oil and filters in the past from key parts?

They will use expensive Volvo oil and genuine parts. Have not looked into what is done in the service too deeply as the reason for using them this year is to maintain the extra year warranty on a new engine. After that I will do it myself.
