My external rubber fairing flap has become detached in small sections at the leading and trailing edges. Bostic 2402 seems to be recommended but is expensive and comes in a 250ml pot, far more than I need. Any recommendations for an alternative?
 
This seems to be a perennial problem. My own flap has occasionally come a bit loose and my engineers have bosticked it back but have now replaced with a new flap. It is worth doing a good job since a friend of ours was brought to a grinding halt when his came off and fouled his prop.

Any idea what Bostic was used?
 
I have regularly used ordinary Evostick to replace this item. But! The surface (boat) has to be surgically clean, so too the rubber gaiter, dont try saving the old one use a new one. With the host hull back to clean gel coat, no paint or anti foul, rough up the surface of the gaiter with course production paper and de-grease both surfaces. Follow the instruction on the Evostick to the letter and used one of those little rollers you get for rolling the edge of wall paper to really press the gaiter hard onto the hull. One of these:

This method has worked for me of 3 boats and I have never lost a gaiter.
 
Bisonite (which is a two part product) was recommended to us when the trailing edge started becoming detached when the boat was couple of years old.

I had to re-do a section while the boat was out of the water this winter and some 7 years on the glue was perfectly usable.

Edit - my old 31.7 didn't come with a gaiter when new, not sure if that was usual or not.

You can use it for other stuff as well, but you will need quite a lot of that 250ml.

Is under £20 really to much to pay for peace of mind? See Amazon http://amzn.to/1hiVR4Z
 
When I discovered strip about 2" from edge of mine parted from hull, and with little time to get the correct material I too used ordinary Evostick Contact. I cleaned both sides with acetone, left to dry for about 15mins then pressed together. That was 6 yrs ago and it is still in place.
